If it's not recognizing the sensor at all it's potentially a couple of issues:
1. O2 sensor slot has corroded
2. O2 sensor is a dud. Doesn't happen frequently but it is possible.
3. Sensor is disabled in the menu. If you use the date code method for the security code in service (DDMM) you should be able to access the sensor directly to check.
If you can't get it running I'd recommend sending it in to be checked out at this point.
